A big problem is that what we have are chatbots, but we think they are “answerbots”. And as one should expect from something trained by the internet it will confidently give a false answer before admitting it doesn’t know.

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.

This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will. It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.

I wonder if the timing of Trump’s executive order to punish flag desecration was to distract from his other EOs released the same day regarding ending cashless bail?

2. There's a special election for state legislative seats in Iowa and California — and I'm eying the one in Iowa specifically: That's been the site of some big swings toward Democrats earlier this year, including a flipped seat. (

Blame it on the moon. This year's Perseids meteors won't be as visible at their peak
The Perseids meteor shower is the most popular one of the year. The meteors during this time are characterized by bright fireballs and long "wakes," the streak of light and color that follow behind.

Another great episode. Grant mentioned that word blends didn’t originate but became a lot more common in the 1980s. I’m curious are there theories on why the sudden increase in word blends, or why these word blends had more staying power?
