Today I joined my House Democratic colleagues on the steps of the Capitol to make clear we will not support a partisan government funding bill that hikes the cost of Americans’ health care. The ball is in Republicans’ court.

I will not accept pay during a government shutdown. I hope a shutdown can be averted but I have instructed the House Chief Administrative Officer to withhold my pay if a shutdown occurs.

We had a great Mexican flag raising this weekend in #Passaic. Mexico’s vibrant flag is recognizable the world over and its raising reaffirms that Mexicans are a critical part of our community, our state, and our country 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 🇺🇸 🇲🇽

No one wants a shutdown. Trump agreed to negotiate and then he cancelled. The ball is in Republicans’ court. They control the House, Senate, and White House. I do not want a shutdown. But I will not accept a funding package that will raise your health care costs.

The illegal release of @RepSherrill’s personal information is an affront to the sanctity of our federal government. That's why I am joining my New Jersey colleagues in demanding an investigation into this serious security breach.

It was my pleasure to attend the opening of “Rumbo al Futuro,” a bilingual mentorship and empowerment program designed for Latino youth and families in our community.

This weekend our community held the opening ceremony for the Veterans and Athletes United Fallen Heroes Memorial to honor our fallen heroes from the war on terrorism and gold star families. Thank you to our veterans and God bless our fallen heroes and their loved ones.

I am monitoring the ongoing situation in Paterson closely. I will explore any federal support available to support our community. Thank you to our brave first responders at the scene.

It has been 24 years and with each year that passes this day never gets easier. Approximately 750 victims we lost that day were New Jerseyeans. In the cities and towns that comprise our district, we lost 52 people from our communities. We will never, ever forget them.

I condemn the heinous shooting of Charlie Kirk. Political violence is against everything America stands for and is never acceptable. I pray for him and for his family.

This weekend our office hosted a joint outreach event with the Passaic County Clerk in #Clifton. During our mobile office hours we offered help with Social Security, Medicare, VA IDs, and other areas. If you ever need any constituent service assistance call our office any time 973-523-5152!

This weekend in #Clifton we marked Ukraine Independence Day. This day means more now than usual because Ukrainians are fighting to preserve that independence against a hostile force. God bless and keep the Ukrainian people and their proud nation. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇸 🇺🇦

Last night in #Secaucus we had the grand opening of the new community center, named in honor of our great longtime Mayor Michael Gonnelli. This new space was built in part with $950,000 in federal funds secured by our #NJ09 congressional office.

This afternoon I visited the site of the ruptured pipe that has caused a crisis in Passaic County. That families in our communities have gone without water for days is an unbearable burden. The sense of urgency to fix this cannot be greater.

The Boys and Girls Club of Lower Bergen County is a critical resource for our community. So today in #Lodi I joined them to celebrate a generous gift from the WWE that helped renovate their facilities and fund new scholarships.

Happy 60th birthday today to Medicare and Medicaid, signed into law in 1965 by President Johnson (with an assist from President Truman). These programs are foundational to American life and I will always use my office to protect them from threats.

Across our district #NJ09 this weekend in #Clifton #Passaic #Paterson we had beautiful celebrations in honor of our vibrant Peruvian American community, one of the largest in our whole country. I was so proud to march and dance with our neighbors! 🇺🇸🇵🇪🇺🇸🇵🇪

I was very happy to sit down with veterans from our district and North Jersey. I wanted to hear their concerns, let them know what resources our office can provide, and tell them I will fight any attempts to force mass firings at the VA that would hurt veterans’ health care.

The more Americans learn about the big ugly Republican budget law the more they hate it. Stealing health care from 17,000,000 people will do that.

This week I visited the Paterson VA clinic to thank the staff for their work and ask what they need. The VA is a fulfillment of our promise to veterans for all they’ve done. We reiterated opposition to massive proposed Trump admin cuts to the VA and support for the VA and VA staff.

Yet another court has blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to overturn the Constitution. Birthright American citizenship is a foundation of our nation and the Constitution’s text could not be clearer.

For a month the Trump admin has been holding $162 million in education funding from New Jersey hostage, including $2,414,000 for schools in our district. After members of the state delegation including me demanded the money be released the admin today said it will free the funds. It is time.
