The Trump Administration has attempted to impede our lawful oversight authority to inspect conditions of private detention facilities. Today’s deeply disturbing news is exactly why oversight is essential. Below is my statement on the reported death of an individual in detention at Delaney Hall:

This headline says it all. While the Admin claims it is only targeting criminals, the reality tells a different story. Only 3% of those arrested or detained over the past few months have actually been convicted of a crime.

Instead of doing the people’s work and saving millions of Americans from skyrocketing health insurance premiums, Republicans packed up and headed home. Disappointed but not surprised. The fight continues.

A judge just blocked the Trump's Admin's efforts to stop us from visiting our constituents & conducting oversight at immigration detention facilities without prior notice, as the law requires.
