Beat the main story of Pokopia earlier tonight, and been messing around with the endgame at bit. Not putting this down anytime soon, I think.

Checked "hours played" as I put it down before work this morning. Somehow already clocked over 10 hours in it. It released yesterday. 😂

Made the mistake of starting to watch a gameplay stream of Pokopia. Had to shut it off one minute in, because the craving to play the game got too bad. I really was trying to not do this and instead wait until tomorrow evening, but I guess I'll be up until midnight to start playing it a bit...

Sunday is as always Vending Machine Game (title TBA) dev day, and continuing on with sketching out the narrative and characters. This has allowed us to better visualize and connect NPCs with things like preferred items, what unlocks what, and so on. Still neat!

I'm finding I really like a canvas board in Obsidian for sketching out narrative beats and story flows. It's visually laid out neatly. It's categorized and searchable. It's easily shareable with version control. Worried that I'll hit some limit down the line, but that should still be a bit away.

Out of all the Pokemon games, FireRed/LeafGreen are amongst the few I never actually played, so today's release on Switch is neat! Starting with Charmander in FireRed, of course (I got Red when I was a kid, my little brother got Blue).

Once again I'm looking through a Steam Next Fest to see if I can find anything even close to the Vending Machine Game I'm building, and once again I can't! Still not entirely sure if that's a good thing or not (I'm leaning towards good).

I already know that this is a thing that's happening in games marketing since long ago, BUT it's not often this noticeable, and really am curious to see what kind of data they have that guided the decisions for which characters to show in the thumbnail for each region.

Very sad to see the VR-related layoffs at Meta, but not shocked, given the leaked internal memo from last year of how it was a make-it-or-break-it year, and then seemingly focusing most on the software and hardware that has had little support from the wider community instead of what has worked.

A good day for the Vending Machine game. Starting to really move away from the prototype system setup and make the proper ones, and progress keeps building on for the "main area" we're planning to have. Excited about seeing things come together to something presentable these coming weeks/months.

Work is still progressing on the Vending Machine game, but right now it's mostly about figuring out what to limit ourselves to, or to get stuff into a playable/testable state, so not much to share at the moment. Though if things go to plan, this is the year we put up the Steam page for it. 😄

Xbox made the certification documents public (this is it takes to ship/pass the checklist/QA to launch a game on Xbox) for everyone; and Nintendo/PS should consider the same.
