Landed at Reno. Being awake for 24 subjective hours not much fun. Glad I booked that room at the SureStay Best Western across the street from the airport for tonight.

On the ground at DEN. No sleep due to the WSFS meeting, but feeling okay even though it is just after midnight where I started today.

At the gate. Boarding in about ten minutes.

I'd say the Saga Lounge in Keflavik Airport (IcelandAir) is nicer, but here are certainly worse places to wait for a flight than the United Club lounge here at Heathrow. Moreover, the air seems better there than it's been the past couple of days and my cough is fading.

Made it to the United Club lounge just it time for #SecondBreakfast before they switched over to lunch.

Heathrow Airport. This is the Polaris Business queue. The others are worse. Good thing I’ve got lots of time until my flight.

In the hotel. One-class room upgrade. Slight misadventure where I seem to have dropped one of the key cards on the way to the room, but it’s sorted now. Air conditioning starting to work.

Deeply unimpressed with Heathrow Express. Apparently if a ticket machine doesn't print your ticket that's your problem, you just have to buy another one. Even if a member of their staff saw it happen.

On the Heathrow Express. Cheryl and I both had negative experiences, with hers worse than mine.

London Paddington. Paid respects to Mr. Brunel. He asked after Kuma Bear, who he met on my visit here last year. Now it’s time for dinner before we head out to Heathrow and our hotel for tonight.

Swindon. Trip going pretty well. Happy to be traveling without time pressure.

Bristol Parkway. Back in England.

Cardiff Central. Turn off the diesels, raise the pantographs.

Cheryl and I are back in Wales on our way to Swansea and then to her home. Exeter to Bristol Parkway by Cross Country (internet wouldn’t connect), then GWR to Swansea. Another first class upgrade. It was a wonderful day.

Exeter St David. We had a nice on board service staff.

Taunton. As we left, we passed what I think was a special excursion train, but I have no details and we were past it before I could get a picture.

Enjoying the trip on GWR in first class. Not an everyday experience.

Zipping down the tracks at almost 160 km/h (100 mph) as smoothly as one could want as we approached our station stop at Pewsey on our way to Exeter. I wish we could have good trains in the USA.

@cherylmorgan.bsky.social collected me at LHR and shepherded me to Heathrow Express. Now sitting in a blessedly cool GWR train service that will take us to Exeter. Luxury!
