In 1986, Saturday Night Live aired their famous "It’s a Wonderful Life Alternate Ending" sketch. That 1946 film was 40 years old at the time. Last night, SNL aired a "Home Alone Alternate Ending" sketch. That 1990 film is 35 years old, which is pretty close to 40.

I just finished Louis Sachar's newest book (and first in five years), The Magician of Tiger Castle. It's billed as his first novel for adults, although it still basically feels like YA. The biggest departure is that it's a medieval fantasy, which is a genre he's never worked in before.
