So what is Għar Gremxul all about? I thought I'd write up this thread to give people a bit more context about Għar Gremxul and what I think about when making games. Here, I explain four core design pillars that guide me.

Finally finished my submission to Appx. N Jam! (I didn't manage to finish the Maltese translation, I'll wrap that up soon) It's a Maltese cosmic horror adventure inspired by the book Kewkba Wikkiela by Ġużè Grioli, and the Devil's Farmhouse in Mellieħa, Malta ghargremxul.itch.io/kewkba-wikki...

Working on a module for the Appendix N Jam (itch.io/jam/appx-n-jam), and I'm inevitably spending lots of time of stuff that I'm absolutely certain nobody will notice (and maybe even care about?). I'm nothing if not consistent! 😁

Attention #TTRPG community: If you found an indie game or supplement you like, take a moment to tell the creator on social media. Unlike big companies, indie devs WILL notice and often greatly appreciate you taking the time to reach out. Sometimes it's the only way we know anyone likes our stuff!

Something I want the success of games like Clair Obscur, Blasphemous, and 1000xResist, is that games can draw from very specific, non US cultural touchstones and reach audiences

Your "dumb little projects" are so important during this harrowing time. Don't forget that. Your creativity has value, for yourself and for the world.

IF. YOU. LIKE. SOMETHING. SAY. SOMETHING. I know so many people who are like "well I don't know what to say so I just don't" and like _anything_ If you don't say anything, the artist will often just... stop.

"I can't afford to buy an indie #ttrpg, so I can't play them!" This is your reminder that almost every single indie designer i know will just send you a copy if you email them and say "hey, I can't afford your game right now but i want to check it out!"

By choosing to use AI art, AI writing, AI anything in your product, you are sending this signal to me: "I have zero confidence in my ability to try hard and create anything, so I would rather steal the work of others and put my name on it." Your AI works have no soul, and show no grit.
