Book Rec thread. I wanna post some of my 5 stars on here too so I really like remember them. First up Where Wolves Don't Die by Anton Treuer. A native kid gets in a fight with a kid at school and the next day the other kid's house catches fire. His dad sends him to the Rez to stay with grandparents.

Did something to destroy my tummy the day before Thanksgiving and have not been right since right before dinner yesterday. Ruined the holiday a bit. Although the screaming that went on during the after dinner game would have gotten on my last nerve even if I was well so maybe best I was shut up.

I've been banned from talking about politics because I tried to say the shutdown ending means insurance costs will go up. Just a reminder that this cat needs to live in someone else's house! She's probably fine with boy cats or dogs, she just doesn't like other girl cats. I'll drive her as far as OK or AR! Or like for sure anywhere in the Texas triangle!

Hmm trying to balance how much detail to put in this endnote libguide and how much to say just look at their own documentation. Some of it is only on video format though and I know some folks refer it written out with screen shots. Hmm

Yeah our library has a tension between faculty who want browsing and students who want more study space. The only reason the students havent won is the uni fakes being poor when we ask for money to remodel or build a better repository lol. And well after this year funding might actually be limited.

Yeah it is very area specific. As someone who doesnt drive in a Michigan city with decent transit that does not connect a lot to nearby counties I just dont see family anymore because they are beyond public transit reach. It also takes over twice as long on transit as by Lyft a lot of the time.

People have a million excuses for pirating books, and I'm so tired of all of them. If you're in the US, you have access to most books through a library, SOMEHOW. If you're outside the US, it's trickier, but there are so many other books to read! Don't pirate when many authors are barely scraping by.

I successfully made butternut squash soup today. Cutting up the squash was a pain, but other than that it was easy peasy and quick. Took me a second to figure out the immersion blender too, but i got it. Now I have two portions freezing in souper cubes and one in the fridge for tomorrow.

I should have listened to romancelandia about Sierra Simone. I was eh on most of the blurbs, so passed on then for a while. But I ended up starting one yesterday and I am already done. It was very addictive. On the waitlist for book 2 now.

I wanted a blow off class my senior year and signed out to be a library assistant for an hour. I liked it alright so I got a job in my university library my sophomore year. I liked that too and didn't know what else to do so I went to grad school here and never fucking left.

Awww went to the hands on museum with two couples, 1 other adult friend and a 2 and 4 year old. It was so cute!! I'm not great with kids but some place like that makes it easier. They had fun for two hours before flagging. Then we grabbed lunch and it was just so nice. Glad I thought of it.

My cat is such a drama queen. My roommate put a harness on him to see if we could take him outside sometime and he refused to stand up with it on. He just flopped over every time we tried to set him on his feet and was like pushing himself around on his tummy.

Friend pointed out the drive might be too long for aunt/uncle now and thats why I dont see them anymore. That is fair. Too bad I was too depressed to do anything last summer when my roommate was willing to teach me. Wish my psychs had listened sooner to my requests to try something besides meds.

Hmm it just hit me many of the villainous men in the wheel of time show are dark skinned black men(Ishamael being the big exception). Seems like a racism. But most of the villainous women are white. A lot of white women being secretly evil...yeah that tracks.

Moved to the Rosamund Pike recording of the first wheel of time book last night. Holy shit she is great at audiobook narration. She totally brings the story to life. I am gonna be sad when I have to swap back to the original narrators since she only did the first 3 books.

I am quite sad Wheel of Time got cancelled now that i am almost caught up. S3 ep7 made me scream fuck yeah and almost cry. I am emotionally attached now...especially to Alanna and Maksim lol. I wish I liked the audiobook narrator a little more but i will have to get used to him lol.

While yes they are being ignorant and dumb. There is a different arabic numeral set in arabic. I memorized it to do scan checks when I worked in our digitization lab. And it was different enough when the scanner missed pages I had to go flip to them for her cuz she didn't understand my notes.

Woke up with terrible indigestion and tummy cramps. That Mexican place is a big NO in future and the food was shitty anyways. Kinda good I woke up though since I forgot to feed the cat dry food and he refused his wet food waiting for it. He would have def made himself sick waiting til morning.
