Today I reviewed 2 PhD proposals, marked 17 essays, and repaired a dishwasher. By far the most rewarding was repairing the dishwasher. (Maybe, as Mary Midgley mused, philosophy is a bit like plumbing after all?) I also noticed uncanny similarities b/w a clogged drain pipe and Reviewer Number Two...
