Public speaking scares the pants off me but it’s important to share our stories (& #bemorelaura ) so today I was grateful for the opportunity to speak at a brilliant Pro Manchester event alongside the inspirational Clarke Carlisle & Andrew Jenkins from S2 #Traitors

“We walked to a bench overlooking the sea to stare up at a million stars in the velvet sky, untroubled by light pollution. ‘When we’re dead & buried, the stars will still be there, & the tide will come in and go back out; we’re really hardly anything at all, are we?’ Laura said softly.”

I’m sure I’ve been guilty of this in the past & I know I meant well but whether it’s the loss of a loved one or a horrible diagnosis - words really do count. Starting a consoling sentence with ‘Well at least…’ is never a good idea & if you don’t know what to say - just say that ❤️ #grief #childloss

As of today, I can no longer say ‘I lost my daughter last year’ & if it’s not last year, it must seem like ages ago to other people who probably wonder why I'm still so bloody sad? 2025 is another year Laura doesn’t get to see & a step further away from her. Grief is completely relentless isn’t it 💔

What started as a mad idea back in Jan ended yesterday as - with the help of friends & family - Gracie & I completed our 100th climb of #PendleHill on Laura’s 25th birthday If you’re up early tomorrow you can watch us finish on BBC Breakfast. Happy Christmas & thank you for the love & support 🎄

The best thing about social media has always been the incredible connections you can make with people who live all round the world The emotional & practical support from almost strangers can often be a lifeline, especially when they ‘get it’ in ways that dearest friends & closest family just can’t 💔

If, like Laura I was diagnosed with #glioblastoma I’d seriously consider #AssistedDying Yet I’d have tried to talk her out of making the same choice Given a 12mth prognosis she lived well for 4yrs, travelled, studied & touched many lives Her death was hell, but she lived an entire life #bothsides

In January Gracie came up with the idea of climbing #PendleHill 25 times before Laura’s 25th birthday in December 25 became 50, then 100. Walking became our therapy, precious ring fenced time together in all seasons, all weather. Today was the 90th (with Erin) so we’re bang on schedule for 23/12
