Once you realize how many traffic accidents Soviet Soldiers caused in East Germany (the reporting of which was actively suppressed by the Stasi) - its no longer surprising to find German Roadsign and Traffic rules plastered all over the now abandoned Soviet barracks.

The "Herzbeger Wunderstein" erected in Herzberg(Elster), Brandenburg in 1506 in gratitude by students of the University of Wittenberg who relocated to the city after the plague broke out. The inscription states that if you circle the stone 3 times you will live for over a hundred years.

Short trip out into Brandendburg to visit the St.Marienkirche in Herzberg. The protestant church dates to around 1350 and is fully decorated with 15th century vault paintings. Absolutley stunning little church.
