This red barn and windmill caught my eye the night of the May event this year. Problem was a huge flood light behind me. (👀 my shadow) the aurora was so bright I figured I had a chance of getting the shot. No healing or corrections needed. Ten seconds of exposure and 💁‍♂️ #aurora #photography #wx

The first time I saw horizontal suction vortices (I had never heard of them) all I could say was “look there’s little tornadoes crawling up the side of the tornado”. Sometimes I chuckle at what I didn’t know… then I get to thinking about all the things I still don’t know 🤔 humbly glad for #wx here 🫶

The last 3 seconds of my exposure a car crested the hill and even though it was pretty far away, it really lit up this barn and made it an interesting subject. It was a happy little accident. 💁‍♂️ #aurora #photography #sky #wx

Trying to hide from the bright light, I went to the shadows in back of this church where there was a dimly lit window, but with a long enough exposure it turned into one of my favorite shots this year. (From the May event 2024, southern WI)
