Some of the best storms out here aren’t violent. Sometimes they just quietly glide across the prairie like the buzzards in the sky.

My neighbor rotates planting corn and soybeans every other year. This should be the year soybeans gets planted and they are beautiful in the field. I’m not sure what will happen now.

4AM WED: Prescribed burns in Kansas have brought smoke and hazy skies to Lincoln. Air quality ranges from "Moderate" to "Unhealthy for some" with improvement overnight.

Every April, the Flint Hills of Kansas are burned to preserve the 82,000 square miles of tallgrass prairie. Unfortunately for Nebraska, on days the wind blows from the south, all the smoke ends up here.

It's no joke, there is a risk of severe weather beyond sunset Tuesday night (April 1, 2025). The main threat will be large hail (possibly up to 1.5-2" in diameter) and some gusty winds up to 60 mph. The risk of tornadoes comes together better to our south, into Kansas.
