Cherry wood smoked beer with Brettanomyces yeast bottled after a fortnight in the fermenter. It has lots of smoke flavour at this stage, which is why it's going in 500ml bottles & not my customary litre ones.

#homebrew Bergamot Saison again tonight. One of the #RulesOfHomebrew is to remember that you'll end up with litres & litres, so a 7.2% flavoursome Saison will last a while.

The best time for a full fried breakfast is at tea time.

I can't remember which one of you lot had one of these the other week, but I picked this up from Home Bargains in Workington a couple of days ago. It's not innovative or out there, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this gently citrussy pale ale.

I got the last can in Home Bargains at Penrith the other day & I'm going to have to go looking again. This is really really super stuff - fresh & florally hopped, dry & a little lemony acidic. Reminds me of daisies for some reason. I wish all breweries gave such information on the label.

This afternoon the kid & me cycled from Maryport to Allonby along Hadrian's Cycleway, where the great emperor himself biked, observing the troops.

I'm happy with my latest homebrew to drink - Bergamot Saison mad with Hallertaur Blanc hops, bergamot peel preserved in syrup, Europils malt & SafAle Belgian Saison yeast. Dry, herbal, citrussy & just a little phenolic from the wacky yeast.

Today I have paid for something in meatspace with my phone for the first time. I'm a hundred & one next birthday.

Cumbria excelling at modestly good stuff again, although Carlisle Lake District Airport has shades of London Luton & Frankfurt Hahn airports.

I wonder what kind of sunny bank holiday the Lake District is having? Here on the west coast of Cumbria it's a little quieter.

I got this in Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago, but at 1.5 litres & 7.2% needed to share it. This is a very traditional English style blonde ale, despite being French. Trad hops with a herbal, gentle bitterness. Super stuff.

All over bar the washing up. The wort tastes like treacle toffee at this stage. OG 1.060, temp 20°C, volume 13 litres. #homebrew #brewday

Late start to a #homebrew #brewday but had to be sure the rain wasn't returning. 2Kg pale ale malt, 0.5Kg pale Munich malt, 0.5Kg cherry wood smoked malt & 0.27Kg red rye malt in the mash.

Thinking that - for one reason or another - my teenager won't ever own a car has made me sad. I'll never get to rub cheese into the seat fabric, leave crisp wrappers under the seats or spill iced coffee over the dash in *their* car to see how *they* like it.

Very fruity Home Bargains beer indeed. I wish all breweries put as much data on their packaging.

Only the second bottle of my #homebrew Munich Lager opened this evening. After the third consecutive day of driving 5+ hours, it's most welcome. I'm quite happy with this. It's not bone dry like most of my lagers & has a bready malt character due to the 100% Munich malt.

I like how the problem & the solution is offered on the same page.
