Ingibjörg G. Jónsdóttir at @mfri.bsky.social along with her co-authors Jón Sólmundsson, Peter J. Wright, William Butler and Pamela Woods published a paper in the ICES Journal of Marine Science. The study explores the roles of total egg production and the survival of young fish in their first year.

Valliant et al. studied where young saithe (Pollachius virens) and Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) live in waters that large nets and past beach seine surveys cannot reach. Comparing diver observations with years of beach seine data to better understand the depths the fish use and when they settle.

The CODSPA project funded by NordForsk is underway! Led by Marco Vindas, researchers from Norway, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands are joining to study how stress affects cod reproduction during spawning. The aim to ensure sustainable fishing practices and protect populations across the Nordic region.
