Coyotes are often considered to be the biggest contributor to livestock depredation and while regionally that might be true, more often than not feral dog kills are also attributed to coyotes. I find that a lot of people underestimate the spread of feral dogs in semiurban locations. 🧪🦊📷

I don't often carry a gun in the field but when I do people usually ask if it's for mountain lions or bears and the response always is that it's for wild pigs and feral dogs. It always seems to surprise them but Im not taking any chances with either of those.

This year's Carrizo Plain deployments may have been wrecked by elk but it was also the highest frequency of American Badgers caught on cameras so that's something. Especially because they are so cool looking. 🧪🦊📷

For the second time ever my Carrizo Plains cameras captured a mountain lion. It's a pretty rare occurrence since there isnt a lot of varied vegetation to help them hunt but this fella probably followed some feral pigs at night. 🦊🧪📷

The plains are as giving as they are unforgiving. I am a total 7 cameras down which I am probably not going to be able to recover for a while but man if the area doesn't produce gorgeous shots as an apology. Plus I caught one of the most rare species you can catch on camera there. Stay tuned 🦊🧪📷
