How flexible things are...your work day/week, the way you teach, research you do, conferences you attend, professional societies you join, size of your lab, etc...it is [primarily] up to you. And you get sabbaticals!!! I would have gone to academia sooner had I known how much better it is here.

Haven't smelled putrified sea turtle but have smelt lion. I still think rotting, maggot-filled domestic sheep necropsies are the worst odors. Wild animals never seem to smell quite as bad.
