EPSA will continue to exist under the for-profit model and may organize its own activities, but a supermajority on the EPSA Council felt that a not-for-profit serves the community much better. Hence the move to an alternative society under a new name (and unfortunately no money…). Do join!

As my two weeks long vacation through Italy (Rome, Amalfi, Sicily) comes to an end, I am very thankful for my incredible privilege that I had the chance to not work or follow any news for these two weeks and only ate, drank, walked, swam and relaxed. Now, to Istanbul to see family and work.

I am incredibly proud that my book, co-authored with Andrea Aldrich, is published. Using an original party leadership dataset from 11 parliamentary democracies, Andrea and I show that women candidates face a glass ceiling for leadership and quickly sink once elected (the quicksand theory).

Interesting to see how Turkish government will react to this: a brilliant Fulbright scholar and PhD student from Turkey is detained, possibly for supporting (in a mild and civilized way) Palestinians, but in the week when massive student demonstrations against the government are rocking the country.
