earlier this year some friends and I set up a nursery in my backyard. we've been collecting seeds from local populations of indigenous species to put in gardens and use for revegetation projects. at the moment we have about a dozen species and have grown over 3000 plants in 6 months

a pic from last month of the critically endangered Diuris fragrantissima, on Bunurong/Wurundjeri land. Only found in a handful of sites in the inner western suburbs, there was less than 20 plants remaining in the wild before conservation work done in the last couple of years #orchid #conservation

couple pics from an a trip to collect some seeds this arvo at a tiny remnant grassland reserve at a cemetary in the western suburbs: Rutidosis leptorrhynchoides (Button Wrinklewort), a critically endangered plant in the sunflower family. Also saw this beautiful Meadow Argus stoppoing to take a rest
