I watched shadows in paradise (1986) yesterday, my second aki kaurismäki film (first was le havre), and I feel pretty confident that a kaurismäki world is like hand-washing a pair of blue jeans until the denim fades down, but now they’re more comfortable - paired with a primary coloured t-shirt.

My special talent is apparently sleeping for 17+ hours after falling asleep during a Whit Stillman movie. Which isn’t a slight on his directorial abilities, just that the dead-pan delivery of Greta Gerwig’s snark is very comforting. Also I had a tummy ache.
