Since I'm already chaotically mixing Bluesky for birds, software engineering etc. I can as well mix it up even more 😆 Here's an old Christmas-themed Swedish folk song I recorded today, merry Christmas! ✨

It's very little light outside now, and I don't have on of those F4 telephoto lenses 😅so instead of a fresh photo here's one from the archive. Female merganser from an early may morning this spring 😊

It's insane how many news articles, about AI's future impact on professions and industries, are based on a single narrative from spokespersons or employees of companies that are making a huge bet on AI, and where selling a narrative is part of their marketing and survival strategy.

The Eurasian nuthatch can look elegant if it wants too, like here, but flashing its rear end to the camera is still one of its more preferred poses 😅

Blyth's reed warbler 🙂 Not the most common sight here. I heard and then saw one today at the same spot I observed one last year on June 12. They're great at mimicking other birds, super fun to listen to! This little guy pulled off a buzzard imitation that was good enough to convince Merlin 😄

This is not the common yellow wagtail, this is the Citrine wagtail, an Asian species that seems to be spreading west. And I was lucky enough to get the second reported observation ever of it in my municipality 🤩

Yesterday evening gave me my best short-eared owl captures so far. Two of them were hunting in the area and did a couple of close fly bys. 🤩 In addition to that I was also lucky enough to score a very rare observation, will share that one later!

Common merganser couple photographed this morning. 🪶 After the heatwave that brought a large group of new migratory birds it has been a bit colder for a while, but spring is still progressing, only at a more modest pace 🌱 Wide shot in comments

Mrs and Mr Teal. We've had mostly goldeneye's and mallard's, but now the Eurasian teal and tufted ducks are back. I've also seen a few northern pintails. Also including an environment shot, since I've had intentions to show more than what can be seen in the standard closeups 🙂

Male common kestrel (tornfalk) from this evening. 🤩 It was seen in the vicinity of a nest where a kestrel couple spent the summer last year. I wonder if it's the same specimen. Haven't seen any female around yet though. 🙂

First photo is from today (March 29) and the second photo is from April 13 last year. It has been a very warm winter with little snow. Not every migratory species will arrive with the same time difference, but the season for sure is a bit earlier this year! 😊

Then I saw these round birds: my lifer Sharp-tailed Grouse. Puffing up into a sphere is a smart way to resist the deep freeze. Look at these perfect dinosaurs.

It's a bit unfair to this fieldfare that I'm posting it after the waxwing photo, but what it may be lacking in terms of accent colors it makes up for with the sophisticated grays and the spotted breast 😎 🪶

Really happy with how this waxwing capture turned out 😊 Bohemian waxwings are usually a quite rare sight here in the winter, but seems like more than usual have chosen to spend the winter in the area this year. Fortunately it has been a quite warm winter so far.
