Scotland on 110. There was a fault with the film, everything came back looking like someone dragged a pencil across the sky. Can’t say I’m disappointed.

Yesterday, looking for a set of negatives, I remembered my careful filing system had been abandoned months ago. All in piles and out of order. 9 sets of negatives never even scanned. Took hours but it’s all deciphered and organised now. Won’t let that happen again. (I bet I’ll let it happen again)

How to make subminiature neg scans look their very best - rephotograph them off the computer screen on the thermal-printout kids’ camera..

We spent the last weekend processing film in the bathroom. Minox subminiature spy film and some medium format. Haven’t done this myself in years..

A nighttime view of Broadford Bay, crosshatched and made sketchy by the fabric of the window blind I was looking through. A good few days on the Isle of Skye. Spent a lot of time looking out this window, hoping for otters.

Some things on the wall

Finally had a chance to sit down with @iainsarjeant.bsky.social’s new book ‘An Uncertain Path’ and it’s wonderful, a really beautiful collection of work, the way the images work together is pure poetry.

Made another. Same words, different image (still frame from the 8mm film footage I still haven’t started editing)

Trying out this today. It requires a bit more patience and consideration than the way I usually work, which was…interesting. I’ll process the pictures tomorrow, hopefully, and see what’s what.
