Ok early thoughts. 1) holy moly I played other early AC games and they really got this remake feeling far smoother and closer to the Origins style. 2) plot moves crazy fast vs 3. V funny course correction. 3) the modern stuff is entirely relegated to random cutscenes in a menu a la Shadows

People's refusal to meet Avowed where it was at really annoyed me. Like yeah it wasn't a grand reactive Creation Engine style world but it also completely upgraded first person combat mechanics for this type of game + has the densest and fun to explore open zones in an Obsidian title. Its good!

A lot of Fallout/Obsidian discourse really misses that Zenimax made a lot of very bad decisions pre acquisition that continued to reverberate due to how damn long things take to make now

Don't want to go too hard on Bananza but damn if Odyssey isn't a tighter feeling, far pacier experience. Banaza has impressive freedom in its destruction tech but feels far rougher round the edges as a platformer as a result

Decided to replay Super Mario Odyssey and damn that Switch 2 patch does wonders (for free too!) 4K HDR and basically all the larger kingdoms look WAY better without the dynamic resolutions in play. Ends up looking nicer than Bananza often
