Easington Moths.. a night of heavy rain associated with ex-Hurricane Gabrielle over Biscay. Migrants are trickling in. Largest single night count of Dark Sword-grass,12, Delicate, White-point, Silver Ys and Turnips. Best of a lifer, possibly a migrant (No elms), a superb Dusky-lemon Sallow #teammoth

Easington Moths Aug27th.. 779 moths, 513 of which were LYU, SHC & CWainscot. But 17 Beet Moths were the first since the influx of Sep 2022 when they were new for Yorkshire. Also D Sword-grass, a Rusty-dot Pearl and the first Small Mottled Willow of the autumn. Also another Archer's Dart 😁 #teammoth

Easington Moths...a light SE wind produced migrants, the best of which was a fabulous Great Brocade, nfg and an absolutely pristine Bordered Straw. Large Thorns are appearing and the Ni lure attracted a Dewick's Plusia, also nfg.😁 @migrantmothuk.bsky.social @doublekidney.bsky.social

Easington Moths...After a fresh westerly & clear night, perhaps 1 new macro which escaped, mostly expected species. Also the first mass arrival of Diamond-backs, 405 counted... So a nice couple of micros, Com Marbled Straw & Lsr Tawny Crescent, a LsrYU & a mystery carpet-type..Chevron? #teammoth

Easington moths...A pug that I think should be a White-spotted but it has no thoracic spot (maybe faint?) and no white spots on the sides of the abdomen...so am I looking at a Golden-rod doing a White-spotted impression? Thanks @mothiduk.bsky.social

Easington Moths... a quieter night with a nice selection of micros and a couple of macros.. Pine Hawk-moth was the best whilst a fresh July Highflyer and a rather battered Giant Water-veneer were supporting cast... #teammoth

Easington Moths... there's been migrant butterflies turning up in-off the sea.. Red Admirals, Painted Ladies and more Hummingbird Hawks.. I sat watching the Red Valerian and probably had 5 diff individuals come in from the east or south, feed, and move off west.. in about 2 hours 😁 #teammoth

Easington Moths...a clear night, SSE2-3 and a full moon so 38sp 135 moths wasn't too bad considering. The star of the show was the first Star-wort of the year, a local Y'shire coastal rarity, another Large Nutmeg and nfy Grey Pug and Double Square-spot. ESE gale blowing tonight, so anyone's guess 🧐

Easington... I've got a couple of new foxes in the garden. The smaller one hoovers up sunflower hearts like all foxes will... Last night, it spent an hour grubbing about on the lawn, whilst keeping on wary eye on me..and then had to lick its nose clean😁.. What a beautiful animal 😍 #fox #redfox

Easington Moths..well the weather forecast looked promising but the wind is a pain in the derriere and it's set to get worse. Three traps out resulted in 50/142 which doesn't seem great but compared to the previous five years on this date it's actually much better...

Easington Moths... well the blue-green UV attracted more than the MV, but probably because it was in the middle of Red Valerian. It was simply too windy. SW 5-6. Anyway, Lyme Grass the best. Some nice fresh Heart and Darts, a very underrated moth that often gets flicked 😁

Easington Moths.. here's a question to all you MV moth-ers.. I don't regularly change mine but noticed a recent dip in performance... the blurb on Google suggests they last 24000 hours which is about 2500 moth nights, say 10 years? Do you wait for them to fail or change them every couple of years?
