Last week at Full Council, I supported a motion to better protect our precious rivers and chalk streams. While the motion did not go as far as I would have liked in adopting a full Rights of the River approach, it was a step in the right direction, and one I was pleased to support.

My NHS employer has just confirmed redundancies are coming. For the second time in my 16 year NHS career tens of thousands of NHS staff, many with decades of experience will be thrown on the scrap heap. Many worked on the frontline (including me) in the pandemic. This is Streeting's reward for us.

Horrendous news coming out of El Fasher, a city I lived in for 3 years, following its fall to the RSF last week. It would be great if @zackpolanski.bsky.social could help draw more attention to what’s happening there, and to the role of the UAE, a major recipient of UK arms, in enabling the RSF.

The situation in Sudan is horrific; war monitors have compared the level of violence in El Fasher to that of the start of the Rwandan genocide. The international community cannot abide this.
