I feel increasingly unwelcome in Japan. The side comments have got worse in the last couple of years. A guy on the bus just barged past me and then started shouting at me for not moving fast enough. It’s becoming exhausting.

There is a lot of talk about how great Japan is online, but the reality is that it’s pretty lonely most of the time.

Life is funny, yesterday I was feeling down because I couldn’t get tickets for the Leica event in Tokyo. Then I got a message from someone I have only spoken to online in the past who was in Tokyo and had a spare ticket for Oasis. It was brilliant.

I had a wonderful time in HK, it gave me some much needed motivation and time to decompress. I love Japan but it’s sometimes import to get out and see somewhere different. Many thanks to @zdp189.bsky.social for his warm hospitality and sound advice.

Living in Japan and being allergic to both gluten and dairy is really challenging. Some days it can be miserable. So far in Hong Kong I have been able to enjoy so much variety without any worries. Stuff I simply wouldn’t trust in Japan is safe here. Japan needs to get with it.
