Maiar series ends with Salmar who entered Arda with Ulmo and crafted Ulumúri, the great horns that made the sound of the seas. Like the rest of Ulmo’s Maiar, his hair is of the ocean hues but unlike them, his color scheme is more of pearls, moss and rocks; reflecting elegance and craftsmanship. 1/2

Alatar, Morihentar, Palacendo, Darkness Slayer, Blue Wizard. Hard to say if they’re the same Maia but also isn’t wild to assume so. Oromë’s friend is the only Istar who had a request which was company. He headed East, never to return. I prefer the version where Alatar did slay some darkness, 1/2

I think Melian’s girdle repelling a Lovecraftian terror like Ungoliant from Doriath is a very underrated diva down moment from The Silmarillion. Two absurdly powerful female spirits were each other’s biggest nightmare and the conclusion is a testament to how impressive Melian the Maia is. +
