To commemorate those who died for our country, I laid a stake yesterday in the House of Commons’ remembrance garden for Oldham West, Chadderton & Royton. It is important we take some time during this period to reflect and remember all those who have given so much for us & for future generations.

Reform wants to erode public sector pensions in a race to the bottom. Be clear, these are the pensions of some of the lowest paid frontline workers in the country. Not gold plated, just fair reward for a life of hard work.

I don’t mind Tories saying the current laws, rules or guidance on any issue isn’t good enough, providing they at least acknowledge they introduced them and now need the Labour government to make them better. The country hasn’t wiped out 14 years from its collective memory.

Knife crime is not inevitable. It is a product of disconnection: between institutions & young people, between enforcement & prevention, and between the language of punishment & the reality of fear. We need a step change in how we safeguard children from violence & criminal exploitation.
