PSA: My Brilliant Career is on Netflix & iView right now, if you’d like to see a young Sam Neill & a young Judy Davis in a classic Australian story. Oh, and directed by Gillian Armstrong.

Just got home and already pouring a gin & tonic. 🫠 I hope son & DIL survive the evening, the kids were absolutely feral today. One with an ear infection, one super over-stimulated from kinder. 🙃

I was called in for emergency grandma duties today. DIL has just gone back to work this week & baby Lil is sick, so daycare is not an option. Currently trapped under a sleeping, snotty, warm weight. 🩷

Going to the city for an early dinner & a show, which seemed like a good idea when I made plans. Leaving the house when it’s 11° & showery isn’t all that appealing now.

Husband asked me something about the battle of Agincourt. This led to an involved explanation of the wars of the Roses, the Tudor dynasty & oh, the amazing pop-up Globe Shakespeare production of Henry V I saw in 2018(?) 🤔 Thank god he loves my nerdy weirdness & strange obsessions.

Team effort for dinner tonight. Husband did a small pork loin on the Weber with a mirepoix, I did the roast veg, magicked up some gravy & steamed a bit of broccoli. It was sensational. I cleared away the leftovers & he’s now washing up. 👌

Australia has’nt been “majority religious” for a very long time. Many people will tick a box if their parents had them baptised. Not me, I reject shit I didn’t consent to. FFS, I wasn’t walking or talking. 😂 Never had my kids baptised, in spite of Grandma’s disappointment & somehow they’ve survived.

Finished off the preserved lemons today. Now they sit unopened for a month before we can use them. Also unmoulded & wrapped the quince paste. It’s not the frantic pace of summer/autumn pickling & preserving, but these bits & pieces will last us a year. Bestie is getting one lot of quince paste too.
