The #SFGiants have announced that they have signed outfielder Will Brennan to a major league deal. In a corresponding move, Rowan Wick was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Tony Vitello again mentioned Hayden Birdsong, Carson Whisenhunt, and blade Tidwell today. He highlighted progress they have made since January, but followed that by saying that it will also need to show up against hitters.

Wick is an interesting pickup...this clearly is basically just calling "Dibs" on a comeback in 2027. He's got some big time stuff and has been kind of a backup closer for the Cubs and had a monster year in Japan. But...ask me again in a year and a half.

The #SFGiants have announced that they have signed veteran reliever Rowan Wick to a one-year deal with a club option for 2027. Wick will miss the entire 2026 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. In a corresponding move, Jason Foley was moved to the 60-day injured list.

FWIW there's no room or need for Nick Castellanos on the Giants. He's a one-dimensional player (and has been for a long time now) and that one dimension (power) is no longer even a carrying tool in his profile. There's just no fit, both on the roster and in the clubhouse.

The #SFGiants are signing pitcher Trey Dillard. Presumably, it is a minor league deal. Dillard was a 16th-round pick by the Dodgers in 2018 has a fastball that can reach as high as 100 MPH.

The Giants should have a quality lineup, with some length to it. The addition of Luis Arráez gives them another tough out. He had a .327 on-base percentage last year, compared to a Giants team that put up a .311 on-base percentage.

Is Luis Arráez better defensively at second base than Marco Luciano?

Since 2019, Luis Arráez has recorded -60 OAA, which is last in baseball during that time. This includes -36 OAA at second base, which is also last since 2019. It's a position he has played sporadically over the past couple of years.

Luis Arráez probably has a 30-grade raw power, but he also posted career lows in exit velocity (86.1 MPH), barrel rate (1.1%), and hard-hit rate (16.7%). He does not rely on these qualities, but it also partly explains why his offense has slipped in recent seasons.

The #SFGiants' 40-man roster is full, so they will need to make a corresponding roster move to finalize the Luis Arráez signing.

I mentioned this a few days ago, the #SFGiants lineup has some decent length to it. It is light on high-impact hitters outside of Rafael Devers and (maybe) Matt Chapman. It has a lot of quality hitters and tough outs. It should be stronger than it was last year.
