Giants have announced that Joey Wiemer was DFA'd, which makes space for the Jason Foley signing. Still need to clear a spot on the 40 for Adrian Houser. With Wiemer and Lucaino gone, the Giants ... well ... still have 8 outfielders on the 40-man roster

Houser saw his HR/9 jump from 0.39 with CHW to 1.12 with TB last season. He's allowed 75 HR in his career. His expected HR number for SF during that span is 55, the third-lowest of any MLB ballpark.

I'll admit it, the main reason I'm grumping about signing Adrian Houser is that he's just really boring.

Houser? I hardly know her.

I am going to lose my mind if the Giants sign Max Scherzer now. Scherzer + Imai/Suarez/Valdez/Cease/Peralta is a good offseason. Scherzer + Houser is grounds for relegation.

In the last two years, Adrian Houser has struck out 137 batters in 194.1 innings. A tremendous signing for the year 1995.

Adrian Houser had a really strong 2025 but has been highly mediocre other than that. Steamer is unenthusiastic, projecting him for a 4.48 ERA and a 4.49 FIP.

Giants now need to clear two spots on the 40-man roster. Could have a trade lined up or may just DFA two people. Tristan Beck, Carson Seymour, Kai-Wei Teng, Spencer Bivens, Wade Meckler, Luis Matos, Justin Dean among players who may be on edge

Per Jeff Passan, the Giants have signed Adrian Houser to a 2/$22M deal, with a team option for a third year. There's one rotation spot filled. For better or for worse.

Giants have reportedly signed RHP Gregory Santos to a Minor League deal. Santos was once one of the top relief prospects in the Giants system, but DFA'd to clear space to sign someone (maybe Joc?). Great 2023 with the White Sox but has struggled with injuries since.

Giants announce that they've signed reliever Jason Foley to a one-year, Major League deal. It's the Matthew Boyd special, as he's recovering from surgery and will miss the first half of the season. 40-man roster was full so it will require a corresponding move.

Giants are trading for Daniel Susac, whom the Twins selected in the Rule 5 Draft. He's a catcher from the A's system, and Andrew's brother. A trade is also how they took Blake Sabol a few years ago.

Giants passed in the Minor League phase of the Rule 5, despite having 7 open spots. I don't understand why they left so many players unprotected.

In the roll call for the MiLB portion of the Rule 5, it's announced the Giants have 31 players on their AAA roster, which is a very low number. That means they can draft 7 players in this portion of the draft ... but also means they left some interesting names unprotected. Expect action in and out!

Major League portion of the Rule 5 Draft is over. Giants lost RHPs Ryan Watson and Spencer Miles, and took nobody. As a reminder, those players could (and quite likely will) be returned to the Giants at some point. MiLB portion next, where players that are drafted are lost forever.

People are surprised by the Lucchesi move, but he had a 3.97 FIP, a 4.06 xFIP, a low strikeout rate, not much life on his fastball, and no options. So I get it. Giants have fallen behind the times with bullpen velocity, and need to start changing that.

Deadline has passed for Rule 5 protections and no word on the Giants making any moves. Could just be delayed, but seems likely they didn't protect anyone. Not really a surprise, their most likely candidates were pitchers and the 40 is overflowing with them as is.
