Look from what I’ve seen of crossworlds dialogue there are alot of poorly thought out lines and lines that clearly didn’t the memo on certain aspects of the franchise. I do not think it’s flawless.

I think what actually happened with Sonic Frontiers was it was so fun and filled with effort in comparison to previous games that our collective standards raised back up to when we first became Sonic fans and now Frontiers doesn't pass the bar it set. First recorded instance of so good it's bad.

I think we can discard basically every in universe argument against your favorite sonic character coming back. If sonic can drive around in a form he canonically can’t access next to hatsune miku and Nine, I think wanting playable Maria and Tikal in non-canon multiplayer games is also reasonable.

The more I see of crossworld the more I get the impression they sat down to work on the dlc for team sonic racing, realized everything they wanted to add would effectively need a completely new system and just decided a new game would be the only way to integrate any of it.

Since it’s the most interesting tidbit to me from the timeline (most everything else goes obnoxiously safe or just lines up with general headcanons) is the new explicit placement of Emerl being made AFTER the echidnas were mostly wiped out, and the confirmation of other gizoids existing.

I retract a percentage of my concerns, they're dubbing tailstube again so it's not ENTIRELY disregarding the american side of lore.

Looking over the timeline... God I want to be happy about the interesting lore implications of where they placed the gizoid creation, or happy for them confirming sonic 4s placement. But then they somehow get the time mechanics of 06 completely backwards and completely exclude/contradict IDW.
