I haven’t inked by hand for years, but I thought I’d give it a try in the new book I’m working on. I penciled in Procreate, printed it out in blue on A3 and now testing the inking with a brush pen. Quite like the chunky results but struggling with my old man eyesight and thumb arthritis a bit...

My eldest is off to start uni next weekend and we’re all going to miss her terribly - but I think our dog is going to miss her the most. They love each other so much it makes my heart hurt. I fully expect scenes like this when she comes back for a holiday.

If you’re a fan of Longlegs, this earlier Osgood Perkins film, Gretel and Hansel, has just landed to stream on Amazon Video and I recommend checking it out. It’s a creepy little movie, with some stunning visuals.

My full time job is pretty busy and I have two kids so I don’t usually get as much time to draw the new comic I’m working on as I’d like. But I’ve just got back from a week away and I did SO MUCH drawing and honestly I loved it. I’ve pretty much pencilled all 120 or so pages now.

Jeez, I go on holiday for a week and when I get back we have Schrodinger’s Trump.

I live in Croydon and look, it has its problems, but a zombie mayor is not going to help.

To be honest, I don’t think they can suffer enough.

This isn’t mine, it belongs to my son but it came up with family at the weekend because he’s always talking about it… Cadbury’s Flakes do not melt. You can leave them in the sun, you can microwave the fuckers, but they remain unmelted. Something to do with the molecular structure I believe.

A Level results day tomorrow. A double edged sword - if my daughter doesn’t do well we’ll all be very sad and her future plans will be up the spout, but if she does do well she’s planning on going to uni in Manchester and I’ll miss her terribly.

Enjoyed Weapons! Lots to digest but my main takeaway as a parent is how much smaller class sizes are in the US compared to the UK. 18 kids?! Can pretty much double that for any school over here.

The problem with spending so long drawing a new comic is by the time you get (almost) to the end of it, you look back at the beginning and see loads of stuff you want to fix. It seemed like a good idea to pencil all c120 pages before inking it but now I want to redo it all…

Just watched Bring Her Back. Blimey, that’s one of the most upsetting, unsettling horror films I’ve ever seen, I think. Powerful in all the right ways with some amazing performances, especially Sally Hawkins and Jonah Wren Phillips. Not quite sure how I’m going to sleep tonight, though…

Visited the new Goodwood Art Foundation today. Rachel Whiteread has a bunch of her installations there. Buried amongst the ancient woodland, her giant, concrete casts of the negative space inside buildings work brilliantly.

Just got a £80 penalty ticket for driving down a road it was fine to drive down two months ago and now isn’t. I was on the way back from hospital last week when I got caught. Most annoying thing? I did the same route today. So that’ll be another £80 fine in the post next week, then.

God, I love this film. It’s a stone cold classic.

I love the book and I really like the DC Compact Editions but I cannot see how Arkham Asylum is going to work when it's reduced down to a smaller size and printed on matte paper. It's a dark, dark book with some hard to read dialogue in even the original larger format!

Finally signed up for a free month of Mubi so I could watch this docudrama thing. Ramshackle, playful, hilarious and compelling - just like the band, then.

The sheer diversity of the audience at last night’s packed out Superman screening was heartening. Goes to show that Superman, probably more than any other superhero, absolutely transcends cultural and generational barriers and I think the movie manages to tap into that.

Honestly, if the film studio that adapted this book has any sense, they’ll do a sequel with Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs about this whole furore. It can start at the film premiere, with them on the red carpet with the actors who ‘play’ them in the in-world adaptation.
