13 years customer service experience, a BA, a MA, experience in facilitating events and managing staff, and not only do I not even get an interview for a part-time assistant librarian job, I don’t even get an email to say so until I reach out.

BSFA Award for Best Collection
Last night Blood In The Bricks won the British Science Fiction Association award for best collection. Given the calibre of works on the shortlist I was absolutely dumbfounded, and still am this morning. If you love short fiction, go check out those wonderful books, you're in for a treat. Credit: Vera Brook I'm so grateful to everyone who contributed to this book.

I love that so much was made in the early Ragnar books about how important the Spear of Russ is. Then it’s made very clear in the last book, and in books since, how much he hated it. The 13th company laughing about how Russ would see how far he could throw it when he was drunk.

My favourite part was when people complained about Omar Souleyman because they are thick gammons who only Know the Gorillaz from two songs. Omar was cool.

Off to see Gorillaz in Manchester. She wants me to ignore her on the bus in case she gets travel sick. Quiet journey then…

I officially can’t stand the LinkedIn and Instagram posts that tell you how to reframe your responses to awful managerial requests. Here is how it should go. Manager: I know it is 5:30 but I need this report done by tomorrow. Me: No. I finished 30 minutes ago. I will do it tomorrow.

More GP news. So, I called this morning and the test I had on Monday, the one they said would take 24 hours, still hadn’t come in. I asked about my antibiotics because it’s recommended 10 days for strep but the pharmacist could only give me 5. They reiterated that it was probably not strep.

In further GP mess ups. The test they did on Monday that they said would take 24 hours and they couldn’t give me any meds until it was done…hasn’t come back yet. So I’d have been getting gradually worse if I hadn’t gone to the pharmacy.

Further to my rant this morning, and with added Pippin pics… I have an illness that is is contagious and very tiring. After nearly a week of it, I called the GP to get help and they directed me to call back Monday morning at 8am…

Very unwell and getting worse every day but having to spend 25 minutes on the phone at 8am to get a telephone appointment from a receptionist who clearly does not give a shit. I’ll never forgive the tories for what they’ve done to the NHS over a decade of underfunding.

My two cents as it were. The situation at the BAFTA’s is entirely the fault of BAFTA. They should have explained thoroughly to everyone involved what might occur and why. They should have specifically had a conversation with Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan knowing the probability of that tic.

Ok, you’ve been transported back in time to the days of Shakespeare and you decide to write plays to rival the Bard. Which movie series do you write to get both the people, and the nobility on-side with you and your genius? For me it is a toss up between Shrek and Fast and Furious.

Blade but the rave is all dancing to VengaBus. Blade can’t help but join in, and Quinn sneaks out the back. He doesn’t lose his hand so doesn’t feel the need to show off to blade later and blade doesn’t escape in time.

Read my review of A Hole in the Sky by Peter F. Hamilton. A YA novel that would be at home in the adult fiction - and thats a good thing. "Oh Guano!"

Was at a funeral yesterday. It’s the only time I see some family members these days, which is really sad considering when I was little there was always some family gathering or something and we went on big family holidays every year. I spoke to an uncle of mine.

When you give nary a murmur when GW retcons entire global campaigns out of existence, when it retcons entire books of old lore, when it kills off old characters only to have them reappear, but you have serious issues with female space marines and custodes. I see you. I bloody see you.
