As we head into the final week of 2025, I want to thank NV-04 for showing up all year long. It has been a tough year, but I have listened, learned, and worked with you to advance legislation that puts our community first. I am honored to continue representing Nevada’s 4th Congressional District.

On the second day of Kwanzaa, we honor Kujichagulia, self determination, a call to define our identity, uplift our community, and pursue our goals. In Nevada, this principle reflects the determination of families, workers, and leaders who shape our state’s future every day.

The new CPI report shows inflation slowing, but families in Nevada still feel the squeeze. Rent, groceries, and everyday goods remain too expensive, and tariffs are not helping. Statistics do not mean much if people cannot afford basic needs.

Happy Kwanzaa to everyone celebrating across Nevada and throughout the country. On this first day, we honor Umoja, unity, the belief that our communities are strongest when we stand together, look out for one another, and work toward a shared purpose.

You can call it a trade policy but families feel it as higher prices. Trump’s tariffs are a major driver of today’s affordability crisis, pushing up costs on everyday goods while wages lag behind. Tariffs are a tax on working families, plain and simple.

As Hanukkah comes to a close, we celebrate the light, resilience, and hope that carried families through eight nights of reflection and tradition. On this final day, may the spirit of perseverance and community continue to guide us, reminding us that even in difficult times, light endures.

Winter Solstice means the return of longer days. But for too many families, winter also means higher heating and energy bills as temperatures drop and costs rise. According to recent forecasts, Americans can expect home energy costs to climb again this season, especially for electric heating.

Shipping deadlines are tight this holiday season, and affordable options disappear first. For families already stretching their budgets, even small extra fees add up. The holidays shouldn’t come with a penalty for being on a budget.

On International Human Solidarity Day, we’re reminded that our strength comes from standing together across communities, cultures, and borders. Solidarity means fighting for dignity, fairness, and opportunity for everyone, especially working families.

Cruelty is the point. I’ve been sounding the alarm for months about premium tax credits expiring, offering amendment after amendment to protect people’s health care. This isn’t about political scoreboards. It’s life or death.

Four Republicans. That’s all it would take. Democrats have been sounding the alarm for months about extending ACA premium tax credits. If Republicans were serious about protecting health care, they’d come to the table, negotiate in good faith, and help save coverage for millions.

When the President says Democrats caused the affordability crisis, let’s be real. Trump’s needless trade war and reckless policies are driving up prices on everything families need to survive, from groceries to electricity, health care, and housing.

This Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on the people who strengthen our community every day. Across North Las Vegas, volunteers and local providers are making sure families have food on the table, seniors get the support they need, and kids have safe places to learn and grow.

Prices are still climbing on the things families need: food, housing, medical care, and utilities. With families in Nevada and across the country struggling with higher prices, we need real solutions that make everyday essentials affordable again.

Holiday prices are higher this year. Trump’s tariffs are driving up the cost of toys, electronics, clothes, and everyday gifts. Families in Nevada shouldn’t have to pay “tariff taxes” on their holiday shopping.

Small businesses across the country, including here in Nevada, are preparing for higher prices again. They’re facing higher shipping costs, higher tariff costs, and higher prices across their supply chains.

Here’s the hard truth: premium tax credits under the ACA are set to expire, and Nevada’s hardworking families will pay the price. Higher costs and fewer protections means fewer people will be insured. We must extend these credits now.

On #RuralHealthDay, I’m sounding the alarm: Republican health care cuts hit rural Nevada the hardest. Providers across my 50,000 square-mile district told me directly: these cuts mean fewer nurses, fewer hospitals, diminished care, and longer distances to get treatment.
