"Come Home Soon" is by far my least favorite SHeDAISY single, because it's the one that has the least amount of SHeDAISY energy in it. It's so bland and generic that it sounds like it could have been cut by anyone.

Mystery of the day: Why do I literally never hear Randy Travis's "I Won't Need You Anymore" or Keith Whitley's "I Wonder Do You Think of Me" in the wild? Not even on classic-country formats?

I think one reason 2005 was one of the best years in country music: in addition to it being the year I discovered WATZ's much broader playlist and regularly started listening to Bob Kingsley, it was also the year after "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" was a hit, and artists briefly got way more wacky.

There's a syndicated classic-country show called Country Gold with Rowdy Yates, which I used to be a big fan of because he tended to play a lot of lesser-known songs. I used to be Facebook friends with him, but chose to block him after I repeatedly saw him insulting me and others.

I think it's interesting how Lee Greenwood has been pigeonholed as a jingoist, when really if you listen to most of his records the vibe is more "lecherous creep". It's like he knew "God Bless the USA" was the first thing setting him apart from T.G. Sheppard so he doubled down.

It still stings knowing that Cody Johnson is MAGA, because the dude somehow wrote not one but FOUR songs that remind me of my stepdad. (On My Way to You, Til You Can't, The Painter, Dirt Cheap) My stepdad was very much anti-MAGA. He died of dementia about a year and a half ago and I still miss him.
