Juneteenth celebrates the agency of Black Americans throughout American history. One way we can all honor the memories of those who came before us is to continue their fight towards equity and a future with more rights for all, not fewer.

Michael and I enjoyed recently visiting the Obama Presidential Center! During the tour I felt immense pride to be from Chicago and to have lived through the historic Obama presidency.

Happy Pride, everyone! I kicked off the month with Niles Pride and had the honor of leading their community parade. It was a joyous, powerful morning with LGBTQ+ leaders, neighbors, historians, educators, advocates, families, and allies from across the north side.

I started this campaign for the same reason I first ran for the State Senate - because I saw a need in my community for real, genuine representation instead of platitudes. For a leader who will speak up for communities like mine, without appropriating our struggles, that are too often silenced:
