New feeding regime for the pigs. Flora is deaf-blind and can’t always tell when food arrives. So she gets veggies placed gently in front of her nose. But the other pigs think she is getting special snacks so they come and steal her veggies. So… Flora now comes and hangs out with me for dinner.

I’m still not 100% after whatever flu-adjacent virus took me down last week, but I just need to get through the next five days. Then I’m off work until after Christmas. 🙌

The local Rotary Club Santa is being dragged around the village in a sleigh pulled by a Toyota RAV4 blasting Mariah Carey out of its speakers. All for a good cause (Strathcarron Hospice), but it’s still November, lads. Cool your jets.

Christmas tree lights that flash (or even gently twinkle) are a sensory abomination. They hurt my soul.

Just gave a very grumpy Minnie the Pig a quick haircut. She doesn’t get trimmed often and was outraged by the indignity. Mabel the Pig is next. But she is currently napping so hard that she’s flattened herself into a pancake. So I’m leaving her alone until she’s awake. And then I’ll pounce. ✂️

I’ve been poorly since Monday. Had big plans plans last night to be back in the world today. But a shower and an attempt to get dressed has left me slumped across my bed in an exhausted heap. Admitting defeat. Gotta wait it out. My immune system will be victorious. Eventually.

I’ve been shivery all day, and I’m still shivery even though I’ve had the heat cranked up for three hours. An electric blanket isn’t helping either. I’m pretty sure my immune system is fighting something off. Bleurgh.

Ok, in my defence, I remembered that I had a very cute new guinea pig tree decoration. Then one thing led to another… and well, the tree is up. 🎄

I can hear the siren call of the Christmas tree from the big cupboard in the hall… 🎶

New favourite daily routine: gently scooping up Flora the deaf-blind baby guinea pig, popping her in a laundry basket lined with towels and getting her (a) used to my smell and (b) comfy with being stroked/scratched. She is a cutie pie. I want to nibble on her pink ears.

Nearly 2am. Having one of my semi regular “sensory freak out” nights where I can’t sleep because I can’t bear anything touching my skin. Including sheets and… air. Just my autistic brain temporarily perceiving every atom in the universe as a horrifying threat.

A wee visit to the Children’s Hospital in Glasgow to provide moral support to a friend with a poorly kiddo. I’m a surprisingly reliable provider of hugs, sugar and pep talks for tired parents. 💪

I know we all like to bitch about the state of the UK’s creaking health service. But I messaged my dental practice yesterday to say “Not urgent, but I have a sore tooth.” and I’m seeing the dentist TODAY.

Hanging up towels to dry outside when it’s 2°C seems mad. But it’s also sunny, with low humidity. So, they’ll dry eventually. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Since getting home from work I’ve cleaned my living room, kitchen and bathroom, called my mother, done two loads of laundry, made a delicious stew in my slow cooker, arranged a date, AND cuddled all three guinea pigs. I’m not just in the zone. I am Mayor of the zone.
