Massive clouds of smoke over large areas of Africa today, just south of the convective ITCZ belt, where the region is still in dry season, seen in the Met-12 True Colour RGBs. The green colour in the Cloud Type RGB suggests the smoke resides in the lower layers of troposphere 1/2

The EUBURN-SILEX campaign has just ended after a dozen flights over 🇫🇷 fires and 🇨🇦 plumes transported over the 🇫🇷 country. A comprehensive database was acquired using a set of innovative ✈️ in-situ and remote sensing instruments. Next phase is the postprocessing of the database acquired. 🔥 #EUBURN

We got an exceedingly rare view of #pyrocumulus as they were forming above the fire. Scientists are studying the composition and physical properties of smoke to better understand its meteorological and climate impacts.
