So I got the chance to try out a Switch 2 Pro Controller. And...wow. Don't get me wrong, I love my Switch 1 controller, but the softer sticks and better grip make the new one feel like a generational upgrade, one I only see after holding one in my hand. Not to mention the new GL and GR buttons.

There we go! I have successfully proven that the Spring Mushroom is entirely optional in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Much as I'd love to see Donkey Kong Bananza win the Keighley awards, having 3 indie games in the running gives me hope that we could get our first indie GotY. Claire Obscur, Silksong, and Hades II all look like fantastic games, and imo, deserve it just as much as Bananza.

Kirby Air Riders Demo Impressions The game seems really fun, and this demo definitely sold me! That said, the controls DEFINITELY need some getting used to. This is VERY different from Mario Kart, but that makes it stand out to me! I can't pick it up at launch, but I do wanna get it eventually!

RE: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer This movie looks like it's shaping up to be another banger! Brie Larson as Rosalina is a great pick! All they gotta do now is nail her character, and I'll be happy! No idea who Ben Safdie is, but his Bowser Jr has made a great impression too!

It's undeniable, Nintendo's messaging around the Switch 2 has been awful. Case and point? I only just now learned that Switch 2 Edition cartridges work on both Switch 1 and 2. They have the full Switch 1 game and the upgrade pack on the cart, with the latter only running if it's in a Switch 2.

I'm continually surprised that Nintendo Switch Online still only costs $20/year at base. That hasn't changed since it launched in 2018. Granted, I also think it'll be the next thing that Nintendo increases in price due to "market conditions." But for what it is, it's still worth the price to me.

Finished Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter last night, and while I have thoughts on the game, HOLY SHIT that ending hits like a friggin freight train... The last time a video game story's ending hit me this hard was Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in 2017. I'm STILL reeling from what I have witnessed.

RE: 9/12/25 Nintendo Direct Full Thoughts Galaxy 1+2 pack may be expensive, but DAMMIT I WILL HAVE IT. Rosalina's Storybook: A must buy for me. Movie being Galaxy themed is hype. Amiibo are take it or leave it. Wonder DLC looks like Mario Party minus the board. Tennis is meh. Yoshi is...intriguing.

Potential hot take: I think the Galaxy games are worth $35 each, so the $70 physical pack is worth it to me. $40 for each individually is pushing it, though, especially since those releases are digital only.

Minus the Mario Galaxy re-release bundle being $70, I loved the new Direct. Mario Galaxy movie reveal, new Yoshi game, Prime 4 updates, and the new Z-A megas were my highlights. The Virtual Boy shit was also stupid as fuck, but...everything about that platform is already a dumb novelty.

Regarding tomorrow's Nintendo Direct: I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a new 3D Mario game announced, but 1) I'd be skeptical on it if the Odyssey team isn't involved, and 2) The Odyssey team has had their hands full with DK Bananza for the past few years. I'd be hyped, but I'm not expecting it.

Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter Demo thoughts My first experience with the Trails series, and I gotta say...yep this demo sold me on the game. Estelle and Joshua both seem like compelling protagonists, and I do want to see their character growth and journey.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Open Playtest thoughts While I can see the potential, WOW the performance is rough on Switch. Yes, I was playing a Switch 1 demo on my Switch 2, and an upgrade is coming later, but even with a stable framerate here, it looks like a whole different game on other platforms.

My Drag x Drive Demo Impressions: Y'know, I've come around on this game. I wrote it off at the Switch 2 direct, but for only $20, I might pick it up. The controls, while a bit unwieldy, I figured out in only 2-3 games. And no, you don't need a table to play on. I used my legs, and it felt fine.

Game Key Card... Yeah, this significantly dampens my excitement for this release. At this point, I'm only getting P3R if either: A) A true physical release comes later (happened with Fantasy Life i and P4G) Or B) It gets a HEFTY discount on the eShop, in which case I'd get the digital version

How the heck is DK Bananza's file size (8.7 GB) smaller than that of DKC: Tropical Freeze on Wii U (11.4 GB)?

DK Bananza is the most wonderfully depressing game. It’s clearly the work of lifelong game developers mentoring novices and it’s the kind of game we’d have a lot more of if game publishers actually let game development be a stable, life-long career for people.
