Was reminded of Bentham’s argument that fear of crime can be a worse harm than crime itself. Everyone can be affected by fear of crime but relatively few people experience serious crime. And fear of crime can easily be manipulated for nefarious purposes.

It was this or something similar that really introduced me to weird and subversive cinema (I think Channel 4 did similar). But it was the strange and weirdly interesting story telling that I took from it. Better to be confused for ten minutes than bored for ten seconds.

For the first time today I was asked to sign a book I co-authored. I completely get that when you are incredibly famous and it's a big task that it seems a similar big ask. But when you're a little author and the book wasn't designed to make money for anyone other than the publisher, it's lovely.

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? (Psychology) We know about all the charlatans and corrupt unqualified individuals offering support and pretending to be psychologists and therapists, and that they exploit people daily. But we can't do anything about it (currently).

I hate to be one of those 'confirmation bias' types but this is so reflected in clinical work, and simply makes more logical sense for treatment tolerability. Glad to see the evidence base growing.

I'm an educator and therapist in CBT, welcome to my world. It gets darker at times.

I'm excited to get emails about possible NICE revision to the OCD treatment guidance (it's 20 years old). All exposure work (for every anxiety issue) is exposure and response/ritual prevention (ERP). Stop telling me that ERP is an adjunct to CBT. CBT for OCD without exposure is not CBT for OCD.

I saw a lovely video from Walton Goggins on acting last week. It was about when he tried to be what he thought the producer wanted, & rejection felt powerful as he compromised himself. Going into things playing the parts he did his way though, the rejecting didn't hurt. FFS Labour, be Labour.

I think of Robin as a hover-fly. My favourite insect. Forever chaotically curious and wonderful, endangered and not getting the attention they deserve for the brilliant work they do. Go and see Robin, i have numerous times, it'll do good things for you.
