Yesterday marked 125 years since the hanging of Mangi Meli and 18 others, making a total of 19. Some of their remains, e.g. Mangi Meli’s skull, were taken by German colonialists and have never been returned to this day. #PamojaRT #GJHeritageWalks All photo credits to Esther Awwami

On this day 125 years ago, German officers ordered the hanging of 19 leaders of #Kilimanjaro and Meru for resisting the colonial oppression. Today we commemorated this event in Old Moshi, #Tanzania. The descendants keep on fighting for the repatriation of their remains to their homelands.

Attending the My Father’s Widow exhibition, I witnessed art telling a story of pain,losing loved ones one after another. But within the sorrow, there was strength, memories, and the journey of moving forward. That’s why we keep smiling, keep loving, and keep living...♥️

Another case concerns treatment of persons with albinism in Tanzania. The court finds ia unlawful discrimination, violations of right to life, freedom from torture & children's rights. Court orders TZ to establish compensation fund & amend laws, criminalize violence against PWA &adopt action plan.

Today in Berlin: Day 2 of ‘Symposium in commemoration of 140 years of the Berlin Conference 1884/85’ at KfW headquarters.
