It has just been announced that there will be an increase in fees for Principal Probate wills from 17 November 2025. The fee for a copy of the will rises from £1.50 to £16 per document. Over a 1000% rise. Any wills you have been thinking of getting copies of now is the time!

A nice piece of marginalia from a late 16th century Norfolk will register. Not sure what it is... some sort of squid possibly? The testator was a yeoman farmer from a parish some distance from the sea so I can't see any obvious connection. And it's not a pun on his name either!

Early 19c Scottish Catholic baptisms can be so useful for family reconstruction with relationships of named sponsors given for some & husbands' names for others. From pre-1830 baptisms, I could identify siblings, cousins & confirm parentage in the congregation rolls beyond a š§±.
