Oh are we doing OOC picture day??

I wrote this primer on how magick is treated and considered in VLI stories. Anyone is free to use this or draw inspiration from it.

I'm really interested by the people who've replied they struggle with continuity in their stories. Those who know me will say I'm infamously meticulous in planning and continuity. So I'm curious: why's continuity a struggle for you? Is it difficulty planning or forgetting your past? Or both?

OOC Question of the Week: Do you have any "what ifs" about your characters or RPs you wished you wrote but didn't? What happened, and what are some things you'd change if you could go back?

I am not a stickler for adaptation accuracy, but HO-LY SHIT. Why bother making the thing at that point?

I will post a few because why not. This is probably my favorite that I've written for Yelena ever. It is how the Maraeth/Vorazd storyline ended when Vorazd (Big bad Lovecraftian thing) freed Yelena from the void and put her back in her body after 9 months of bodiless hell.

If you want to write like someone, don't read their work, read what they read.

There's others I'd rank similarly depending on the day you ask, but this one jumps out at me today. It came to me at a really important time in my run where I was trying to regain my footing with the character, stopped caring so much about winning, and focused on what I wanted to write.

There's a lot of places one can draw inspiration for developing their prose, but I think an overlooked source is lyrics from the great singer-songwriters. The ability to paint a picture through words and detail a narrative through the restraints of music has produced some incredible results.

OOC Question of the Week: Who's someone you haven't worked with that you want to? Who is someone you *have* worked with that you'd be eager to work with further?

I'm not worried about AI music replacing actual artists, I'm worried about when AI is used to replace *songwriters*. Some band or record label will eventually be savvy enough to use AI to produce the base song and then just have actual people record it to launder the creative bankruptcy.

I've been vested in @kieranfuking.bsky.social for a minute, more so his Alias character but King is cool. Excited for some new things I've seen from others but gonna keep quiet for now.

I hope we get some crossover events happening again. It's probably a little difficult for UCI to network with us being largely on BSky while most feds stuck to Twitter, but it was incredibly fun for the few I did some years back.

That said, I'd like to commend everyone who's stuck around BSky and not just gone back to X. It's quieter here, but that's not necessarily for the worst — I log onto this thing to have fun, banter, and RP, not get in constant roast battles and OOC screaming fights.

Something efedding is seriously missing right now: NPCs and non-wrestling characters with gimmicks. Guys like Denzel Porter who were playing journalists and worked across feds to give a larger sense of the world. The Velvet Rabbit and that kinda stuff.

Johnny was built on two major inspirations: 1) I wanted to write a "brilliant but lazy" character. My big inspiration was Shikamaru Nara from Naruto. It was a needed tone change while writing Howard Black, a pretty moody character. 2) My personal experience growing up in the SF East Bay Area.

Question of the Week: What was the initial inspiration for your current character? Your WWE2k CAW, a character you played in another game, just an idea you had? Tell me about the idea!

At some point we need to contend with the fact this hobby is aging out, more people are calling it quits, and there doesn't seem to be a "next generation" to pass the torch.
