I feel like I am living at the point in the movie when I am yelling at everyone to get out of Europe in 1939. What are they waiting for? Why aren’t they leaving? Can’t they see what’s coming? Anyone else feel like that these days?

Just returned from Mexico City. It was refreshing to see the policía and federales with uniforms, badges, and faces not covered. It was heartbreaking to return to the US and see more videos of ICE. Mexico has its own issues, but what a juxtaposition of two views of law enforcement in two countries.

We do not need a $200 million dollar ballroom at the White House. We need universal healthcare, a living wage, paid maternity/paternity leave, funded college tuition, affordable housing, national parks, grants for small businesses, and a lot of compassion for our fellow citizens.

Living in the US right now feels like death by a thousand paper cuts.

We are letting down the next generation. "A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit" is not true in the US any more. We have turned into a consumer republic with no concern for future generations or actually making life better.

This is why people are so frustrated with the system, especially those in their early 29s to 30s. Can you overlay CEO compensation on this graph? That will tell a whole story in itself!

During COVID, much of the weight fell on healthcare, grocery workers, and teachers. In our current situation, much of it will fall on lawyers, judges, and the judicial system. If our democracy can hold there, we will make out to the other side. Hold strong!!!

This will have a devastating impact on research to cure diseases. Have a family member with Parkinson’s? Cancer? MS? ALS? We should be leading the world in medical research.

On the eve of inauguration, 2.0 is surrounding himself with those who will choose loyalty over country, power over integrity, hatred of a common enemy over community, and tyranny over democracy. 2.0 will be exponentially worse than 1.0.

Thoughts: Use your spending as your voice. Support companies that align with your values. No Walmart, Amazon, Tesla, Meta for me. Get out of reacting to the chaos and get into taking action. What can you do today?
