At #UNGA Marco Lambertini, representing @npinitiative.bsky.social, spoke about efforts by the private sector to align with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework #KMGBF. Business action as part of a whole-of-society endeavour is crucial for the implementation of the 23 #KMGBF targets.

At #UNGA I had the opportunity to discuss with Carlos Manuel Rodriguez, CEO of @thegef.bsky.social, avenues for stepping up biodiversity finance for the accelerated implementation of the #KMGBF. As we approach the global review of progress at COP17 in Yerevan, the GEF's support will be vital.

Ahead of #COP30 of the UNFCCC and the triple-COP year for the Rio Conventions in 2026, Parties are discussing practical ways of forging synergies in planning and implementation. This was the focus of the High-Level Roundtable on "Unlocking a Resilient Future: Climate and Nature Synergies" at #UNGA.

At #AMCEN20 I conferred with H.E. Roger Baro, Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso. We discussed opportunities to accelerate the implementation of the country’s revised National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan #NBSAP and preparations for COP 17 of the CBD.

Chuffed by the level of commitment to biodiversity at #AMCEN20. With Mr. Ousseynou Kassé, Chair of the African Group of Negotiators on Biodiversity, we agreed on the importance of regional coordination and capacity-building as enablers of accelerated implementation of the #KMGBF.

#AMCEN20 Rio convention representatives were united in highlighting the benefits of integrated implementation at all levels. 2026 as a triple COP year offers opportunities for parties to the Convention to task the Secretariats to work together in this sense.
