We are losing, across Europe, the unique genetic heritage of our local livestock — shaped by the hands and wisdom of generations of Europeans before us. This poses a serious threat to food security, human health and species adaption to environmental change.

Europe is advancing on climate adaptation, but action must now match ambition. All 32 EEA member countries now have national policies on climate adaptation planning, and over half include adaptation in a national or federal law.

When it comes to the electrification of transport, Nordic countries are the leaders: in 2024, more than half of the new cars registered in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland were electric.
