Comic artist & illustrator E.C. Stoner, (Oct. 20, 1897-Dec. 16, 1969). One of the first Black artists to work in comics, he also worked in commercial art & later in fine art. He reportedly created the first published image of Planters' Mr. Peanuts mascot & later became a spokesman for Gordon’s Gin.
