AMERICANA is a pretty darn good film...great first film by a long time writer of some of my favorite shows (Poker Face, Longmire). Highly recommend. And not just because it has Zahn McClarnon in it.

Watched DOWNHILL RACER (1969) last night. Redford and Hackman. Typical of many movies of the time, it is shot with a eye towards 'realism' or 'documentary' with the camera trying to find the subject. And that does work with the real ski footage. My only issue was the music wasn't utilized well.

This is a huge loss. I grew up on Redford films, and he was a beacon in the independent film community with the Sundance Institute. Two of my top 5 films star this amazing talent: Three Days of the Condor, Sneakers. This giant will be missed.
