I've heard back from the City of Vancouver. They confirmed that they have approximately 265 staff "currently in the field" working the byelection. That's a 79% dropoff from the 2017 byelection. Odd they didn't mention that in their original explanation to media as to why lines were so long.

Not a Vancouverite, but it makes me super happy to see lines out for today's by-election (especially after low turnout in recent municipal elections). If you haven't gotten out to vote yet, go do it!
